In a game-changing move for Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry, the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) in collaboration with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has launched the Digital Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP) — a fully digital, secure, and internationally compliant certification system.
This milestone is part of the DRAP Clearance Gateway, a broader initiative aimed at enhancing export efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness.
🧾 What’s Included in the Digital Certification Package?
Alongside the Digital COPP, three other essential export certificates have also been digitized:
- ✅ Electronic Free Sale Certificate
- ✅ Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certificate
- ✅ No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Exports
Each certificate now features a unique QR code for real-time verification, ensuring authenticity and reducing opportunities for fraud.
🌍 Why This Matters for Pharma Exports
These digital documents are tailored to meet international regulatory demands, especially in high-standard markets like:
- The European Union
- The United States
By removing outdated paper-based systems, the platform:
- ⏱️ Reduces processing delays
- 📄 Eliminates inefficiencies
- 📦 Streamlines cross-border trade
- 📈 Enhances export credibility
💬 Leaders Speak on the Digital COPP Launch
Aftab Haider, CEO, PSW:
“This marks a major shift in how Pakistan handles pharmaceutical exports, bringing our systems in line with global best practices.”
Dr. Obaidullah Malik, CEO, DRAP:
“The digital certification system showcases DRAP’s commitment to safety, transparency, and international compliance.”
📊 Pharma Sector’s Growth Potential
The pharmaceutical industry is one of Pakistan’s high-potential export sectors, having generated $341 million in exports in FY 2023–24, with a 3.90% YoY growth.
By integrating digital governance and compliance tools, the government aims to expand market access and increase the sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s export portfolio.
🔗 Aligned with Digital Pakistan Vision
This initiative also reinforces the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital Pakistan, where key economic sectors leverage technology to improve efficiency and expand globally.
With platforms like PSW supporting DRAP, Pakistan is moving closer to becoming a trusted pharma supplier on the global stage.
