๐Ÿš€ IT Ministry to Automate Right of Way Approvals for Faster Telecom Expansion

The IT Ministry is developing an automated system for Right of Way (RoW) approvals, aiming to speed up telecom expansion across Pakistan.

Good news for telecom operators and internet users across Pakistan! ๐Ÿ“ก The Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT&T) is rolling out an automated online system to streamline the Right of Way (RoW) approval process for telecom operators.

This initiative is a game-changer as it will cut bureaucratic delays and accelerate network expansion, ultimately leading to better connectivity for everyone! ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ” Why Does This Matter?

The government is committed to improving digital infrastructure by making policy changes that help telecom companies expand faster and more efficiently.

Under Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) regulations, cellular mobile operators (CMOs) are required to increase their network coverage annually by setting up new Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites across provinces.

๐Ÿ“Œ Annual BTS Site Rollout Targets:

  • Punjab: 245 new sites
  • Sindh: 105 new sites
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): 65 new sites
  • Balochistan: 30 new sites

These expansions ensure at least a 3% yearly increase in population coverage, helping to bring better network access to more people, especially in rural and underserved areas.

๐Ÿ’ก How Is Telecom Expansion Managed?

The PTA oversees telecom licensing through an open auction system, with 15-year licenses granted to operators under strict rollout obligations.

๐Ÿ— Key Initiatives Supporting Telecom Growth:

โœ… Automated RoW Approvals: Reducing delays in telecom infrastructure deployment.
โœ… Universal Service Fund (USF): Funding projects to expand networks in remote areas where commercial viability is low.
โœ… Separate Licensing for AJ&K & GB: Tailored network expansion plans for urban and rural regions.

With these measures in place, Pakistan is paving the way for faster, more reliable, and widespread digital connectivity.

๐Ÿ“ข The Future of Telecom in Pakistan

This new automated approval system marks a significant step forward for the telecom sector. With reduced red tape and streamlined processes, telecom operators can focus on enhancing coverage, improving speeds, and bringing next-gen connectivity to every corner of the country.

What are your thoughts on this initiative? Will it help bridge Pakistanโ€™s digital divide? ๐Ÿ’ฌ Share your views in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡
