📱 NADRA Launches App to Register Births, Deaths, and Marriages from Home

NADRA launches a mobile app enabling citizens to register births, deaths, and marriages online from home—initially rolling out in Punjab with expanded biometric support.

In a major step toward digital governance, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new mobile app allowing citizens to register births, deaths, and marital status without needing to visit government offices.

Announced during the second meeting of the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework Implementation Committee, the app aims to streamline civil registration services, starting with Punjab province.

đź’ˇ Key Features of the App

  • Register life events from home: Citizens can now update their status—birth, death, or marriage—via smartphone.
  • Biometric verification support: Expanded to union councils for identity authentication.
  • One-window counters: NADRA will set these up at union councils in Islamabad to simplify in-person access where needed.
  • Initial launch in Punjab: A live demo of the app was presented to Punjab’s Local Government Department.

đź›  Why This Matters

NADRA Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Munir Afsar emphasized the app’s role in modernizing public services and enhancing database accuracy:

“This mobile application enables citizens to register life events online from their homes. Initially, the rollout will begin in Punjab,” he said.

The initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader efforts to digitize identity verification and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

đź”’ National Biometric Policy in Development

The session also included a briefing by PTA Chairman on Pakistan’s upcoming national biometric policy, aimed at securing digital identities and creating a more integrated identity management system across provinces.

🧾 What’s Next?

NADRA’s mobile app represents a significant leap toward paperless, citizen-centric governance. As biometric systems are implemented at the grassroots level and digital policies take shape, citizens can expect more secure and accessible public services in the future.
